P1 Charity Golf Tourney Supports The Children’s SPOT
LENEXA, KS – The 13th annual ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ Charity Golf Tournament raised $11,594 for The Children’s SPOT (Speech Physical and Occupational Therapy) of Saint Luke’s Health System.
Dennis Chenowith, the retired Saint Luke’s Health System Director of Facilities and Construction, thanked the golfers when they gathered after the tournament, informing them that The Children’s SPOT offers early and intensive therapy to children with disabilities and developmental delays, helping them function successfully in life. He said Kansas City contractors, including ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ, and labor unions have donated millions to The Children’s SPOT over the years, enabling SPOT to offer services to families regardless of their ability to pay.
The venue changed this year, to Falcon Ridge Golf Club in Lenexa. That didn’t stop the A-flight winning streak of Ricky Rohaus, Scott Duncan, Josh Short and Brock Hall, who scored 57 to win the tournament for the fourth straight year. This year the team wore purple golf shirts in honor of Ricky’s mom, Amy Rohaus, who died of cancer last year.
The tournament raises money primarily through raffle tickets sold for prizes, worth thousands of dollars, donated by ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ partners and vendors. Golfers also pony up money at three pay-to-play challenges on the course. In addition, ÁñÁ«ÊÓƵ matches the funds raised each year.
Special thanks to the 143 golfers who participated and the tourney volunteers: Dave Beebe, Paul Smith, Jenny Cangelosi, Kelly McBride, Jill Giele, Pam Nolte, Sarah Rohaus, Kristen Duncan, Michael Schram, Jamie Schram, Heather St. Clair, Ann Liggett, Brandon Smetanka and Mike Belcher.
